GABON MY GABON
The Gabonese flag is composed of three horizontal bands: one green, one yellow, and one blue.
The Green, symbol of the equatorial forest that covers the majority of the territory, evokes fertility and agricultural wealth.
The Yellow, symbol of Ecuador which crosses the territory from west to east evokes the sun, mineral wealth, and the legendary hospitality of the Gabonese population.
The Blue, symbol of the sea that bathes the coast of Gabon, also represents the many rivers that ply the country, the sky, and the image of peace that Gabon reflects.
These coats of arms have many symbols:
- In the central shield appears a ship that symbolizes the nation sailing towards a better future. The black background of this ecu represents the African continent.
The tree, an okoume, on which the shield is fixed, shows the importance of timber in the economy of the country.
- The three circles, at the top of the shield, represent the great mineral wealth of Gabon.
- Two panthers call every Gabonese to vigilance and courage.
- Each belt displays a particular currency

GABONESE COMMUNITY
The Gabonese community in Atlanta is formed of about 500 Gabonese. The community is very diverse in terms of age; an older generation, millennials and young adults, as well as children. One of the projects of the AGA is to close the gap between the generations.
The AGA plans on working adequately with the community through several activities in order to better understand their conditions and to empower them.
The association set up different opportunities for Gabonese to get involved in the Atlanta community such as volunteering and community services. Click the link below to see what we have done so far.
Every month, the AGA recognizes and congratulates the Gabonese of the month (one man and one woman). The purpose is to encourage those who are working hard, building businesses, and creating a better life for themselves.
